Please do not use a line out port for headphones and expect hifi , as there is a difference ! Line out ports are designed to drive relative high impedance loads and not the much lower ones that are common with headphones. Sure it can work and most headphones do produce sound , some even quite reasonable if you do not compare it to a properly designed headphones port. I certainly can hear a lot of difference in the low frequencies where the port needs to deliver a bit of power.
I had a test with the IQaudio card http://www.iqaudio.co.uk/pi-audio/8-pi-dac-0712411999643.html and the difference is obvious. For a small bedside headphones driver I do fancy the pizero and Pi-DACZero / Pi-DACZeroHP combo. And I just noticed Gordon has a matching casing available and a handy bundle that does lack the pizero though. The suggested 1 euro USB dongle might have a better price/performance ratio , and should be tested ------------------------------------------------------------------------ M-H's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=66156 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=106327 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
