Could you send me a diagnostics mail from iPeng when you have the issue? Just tap the mail link under "help". That said: that using the UDAP shell helps sounds like your player disconnecting from the server, can you still control it through the web interface when you have the problems? Does the player maybe switch to MySqueezebox.com? If you register iPeng to MySqueezebox.com using the same account you can use it to switch the player back, too.
