Yes, that's it's exactly why I like the Squeezebox Radio so much. (Not
to mention the openess of the Squeezebox system with its various plugins
and its wide support of tags and music sources)
It's a pity that there is no replacement for the Radio. Neither in the
Squeezebox world nor in any other system. I think there a several
devices similar to the Squeezebox Touch (mostly RaspberryPi with
Touchscreen). But there's nothing like the radio with all the hardware
buttons, small size, portable with rechargeable battery. As you said,
perfect for bedside and kitchen. 
It's seems if nowadays you have to use a shitty app or at least a
touchscreen for almost everything. I don't really want this at home.
