Another thought ... you can have a Raspberry Pi and make it "neater" by
putting it in a tidy box and have a few buttons on it as presets to
launch favourites and even a small screen to show you what is playing
(that blanks and hopefully dims).
If you have some "maker" skills then you could stick it inside an old
radio and maybe reuse some of the buttons.

See plenty of other ideas in that thread including putting a full 7-inch
touch screen on the front.
Many of the examples show connection to remote speakers but you will see
a few with speakers attached.
