In typical usage today, SSDs will accept quite a lot of writing until
they fail. But of course they CAN fail early, so a backup is always a
good idea.

In 2016, Germany-based renowned computer magazine c't performed a
long-term test about how much data can be written to SSDs before they
fail. They used several widely used consumer- and pro-grade models and
found that all models exceeded their vendor's claims of their write
endurance, which ranged between 60 and 150 TB for these 250GB models.
The first model failed after 187 TB written, the last one reached up to
