We have announced it for two months before the shutdown. In this very thread. Also, you don't need to be a programmer, all you need to do is delete the plugin folder from the Plugins folder. I agree it's unfortunate that the plugin blocks some setups when the service is unavailable, we only learned about that after the shutdown or we would have tried to remove the plugin before that through an update.
