Think I do have quiet the same problem so I am using this thread.

I am using a USB drive which is NTFS created w/ Windows. This I did some
while ago.
This drive is linked into my W10 with samba and Create File Mode = 0775.

By now I was able to add and delete files and folders through Windows.
Override of files is not possible; must delete and create.

Actually I want to do file changes with tools like foodbar and MP3tag.
Results of testing:
a) change is possible if the file was create through Samba.
b) change is not possible (access denied) for all old files copied
initially through Windows with drive directly attached to PC.

I am hesitating to attach the drive to my PC again to mass change w/
foobar. (but may be I should).
So I tried 2 things:
a) Running the command chmod -R tc.staff /mnt/... as suggested but I get
an error chmod: invalid mode 'tc.staff'
b) Hit the 'write permissions' button next to the Mount Point but still
the same problem.

Any ideas or suggestions how I can solve the permission problem on the
USB drive?
