I have 32 gb card in use for Buster Desktop at the moment.
Checked with gparted and I can fit it on a 16 gb card. I'll user the sd card copier on the desktop to make a backup on the 16 gb, copy that to a usb stick using Win32Disk imager and use Pi-shrink to squeeze it down a bit more.
