I agree the jargon can be a problem if you have not been following the
forum and using the products. Since your new to Logitech media server
(LMS) and squeezebox system, a high level overview might be helpful.
First, LMS is the music server which handles delivering music files
(from your own library or internet streaming) to squeezebox devices.
Second, is the squeezebox devices as the Radio, Touch, Transporter,
etc., or a device running squeezelite. Except for the Radio and Boom,
the second device will transmit analog or digital output to your stereo.
In other words you need both LMS and a second device to play music on
an audio system.

LMS can run on a windows 10, Mac, or Linux. If you don’t have a
Logitech physical equipment ( Radio, Touch, etc.) is where squeezelite
is used. You can run squeezelite on a windows machine to listen to
music on the computer.

Finally, there is picoreplayer (PCP) which runs on a raspberry pi and is
able to run both the LMS server and a player (squeezelite) to deliver
analog or digital output to your audio system.
See https://www.picoreplayer.org/. The PCP option is nice because the
system can be run on a tiny standalone pi which does not require the
overhead of running a windows10 computer. I use pcp to run LMS and I
followed the instructions on the website and I don’t know Linux.

You mentioned Yamaha Music-cast, when I looked at the website it appears
it offer similar functions as LMS. It mentioned the internet music
services, but it did not mention if you can play your own music library.

Some more detail of what you want to do and what physical equipment you
have would help others on the forum give you more detailed suggestions.

Jivelite is a graphical software used by those with the technical skills
to build their own Touch. I have not used it.
