I am no network configuration expert, but I have two routers set up. Perhaps similar to what you are doing. The reason I have two routers is that all the insecure internet of things is connected to one router, and my computer, picore, and SB stuff is connected to the other router. The devices connected to each router cannot ping each other, the firewall on each router will block the ping.
Do you recall setting up some permissions for certain IP addresses to pass through the firewall?
