The noise referred to is not noise one can hear (not unless something is
really, really, wrong :rolleyes:)

This is "measurement" noise.

And, generally speaking, any subjective improvement to sound quality is
caused by the removal of this noise. 

This can be done cheaply with a separate 5volt power supply and some
splitter cables. An internet search will provide details, and other ways
using bespoke "usb isolators".

Enjoy what you have and then decide if you want to play and how much you
might want to spend :(

Remember though, that you will be replacing any "noise" from the
raspberry pi with "noise" from another power source and the key word is
*-_subjective_-* ;)
