The noise referred to is not noise one can hear (not unless something is really, really, wrong :rolleyes:) This is "measurement" noise. And, generally speaking, any subjective improvement to sound quality is caused by the removal of this noise. This can be done cheaply with a separate 5volt power supply and some splitter cables. An internet search will provide details, and other ways using bespoke "usb isolators".
