My comment - it seems to me that the auto switch, with no real display of what server you are using, can trip our less experienced people up.
I think you'd still have to confirm the switch. Original hardware players IMHO do NOT connect to any other server than the latest used automatically. squeezelite based players might do so, but not original hardware. I'm pretty sure your friend had to confirm the switch. But the message might have been unclear (and the situation confusing).
