I've been pondering that one as well.  Comparing the Nokia 770 with a
Dell Axim:    
- The Nokia 770 has a higher resolution screen than most PDAs.  The
  Nokia 770's screen resolution is 800x480 pixels.  The newest high-end
  Dell Axim, at $400+, is 480x640, while the lower end and all previous
  models are just 240x320.  
- The Nokia can do 802.11g, while the Axim only does 802.11b.
- The Axim seems a lot more versatile in the applications that it can
  run.  The Nokia can do basic "webish" stuff - browse web sites, view
  PDA documents, view and answer email, etc.  I have no idea how
  extensible this is, though.
