It works great - but it's a bit brutal at 7:00am! Is there any way to
make the alarm clock stream fade in over, say, 30 seconds or so?
Yes, this is possible on current production SlimServer (at least 6.2.1 and higher, maybe a few versions earlier but I don't know how many). Unfortunately, there is no UI to set the preference until SlimServer 6.5. So if you are using 6.2.1 you will need to:
1) Shut down SlimServer
2) Find your slimserver.pref file, and find the line "alarmfadeseconds" and set it to your chosen fade time.
3) Start SlimServer
