Seems strange you'd have to jump through hoops like this. Is the SlimServer PC close to the Squeezebox? If it was, I'd suspect wireless interference.
What do you mean by "the SB3 would not connect?" It wouldn't see your SSID, or it would but would not connect? Seeing SSID and connecting is low-level stuff handled between the SB and the router. Your PC has nothing to do with it. It shouldn't matter if your PC was on or not, but obviously you have worked your way through it and that was the solution for you. But it is pretty bizarre. Can you connect to SqueezeNetwork with the PC on?
