In my case I had to mod it to run on 1.5. - Unzip it - Edit install.rdf - Modify the line " <em:maxVersion>1.5+</em:maxVersion> " to suit your version.
It also looks like it is setup only for a local slimserver, and the default squeezebox. So while it is unzip'd chrome/slimserver.jar will also have to be unzip'd and modified to specify an alternate server name, and specify a player in my case. The jar file will then have to be re-jar'd and the extension re-zipped. Quite clever really how it works, the images just call the web interface links.
