Thanks, Mark. I had noticed warnings from others about using v5 so I installed v4.1 and no luck. I completely uninstalled everything and reinstalled SS and went back to the default DB. Maybe I'll give it one more try. If still unsuccessful I will await the SS version that fully supports MySQL, maybe v6.5? Anyway, thanks to all who offered suggestions.
