The 770 firmware updates have improved performance somewhat.

One area that may improve soon is network performance when using an encrypted wireless link. I believe I read where the encryption work may be offloaded to the DSP chip, speeding it up greatly.

Another factor for performance will likely be the forthcoming changes to the SlimServer itself.

In particular, the changes to the skin code (better CSS based layouts, fewer image widgets) and server-side album art resizing and caching should reduce the CPU and memory requirements of any browser displaying the SS web interfaces. Most desktop users may only notice minor improvements, but it may be an huge boost for users of slow systems and handheld devices.

All of which is just icing on the cake as it is working acceptably for me now. Sorry you didn't have a better experience with yours.
