My 770 had what I understood to be the latest software, the Dec 30, 2005 release. I suppose if I had used the older software and then got that update I might have been impressed with the performance increase.
The fact remains, it was faster to find music with the lowly stock remote than the 770. My needs are very simple - I want to find a CD to play. I don't futz around with playlists or need to check what song is currently playing. I can identify the majority of my 8000 tracks by ear. I just need to cue up the next CD, and it took an order of magnitude longer to do it with the 770.
