That's certainly not the cause, because I don't have a squeezebox, or any music streamer yet. But the LAN light does flash every few seconds as Trumper1 reported. I can only think that the slimserver is chatting to the router/modem/WAP which is keeping everything powered up, but that's just a badly educated guess as they are the only two active items on the network.
