I'm looking for a way to make my SB's (1 SB1, 2 SB3's) automatically switch on & off my active speakers whenever the Squeezebox is switched on/off. I've looked at the Amp switch but that requires soldering which is not exactly a hobby of mine.
I found this power strip that consists of one master and four slave outlets. Apparently when the strip detects a load on the master outlet the other outlets are switched on automatically. The threshold is adjustable but must be at least 15 watts in the on position. This looks like a very elegant solution. Can anyone tell me how many watts the (220v) Squeezeboxes draw when in power on vs. power off state? Does it make a difference whether the display is blank or showing the clock in the off state?
