Yes, adding the extra tag is a pain - I had about 900 to do! At least with MP3tag you can sort all your albums in one list by Artist and then select each Artist in turn to set the new tag. Great advantage if you have multiple albums by same artist. It also, of course, will include any on compilations. With regard to your MP3 files I doubt that many, if any, portable/car players will read 'Artistsort' so you may want to do a test sample first. As already suggested in another message you could just do the FLAC's and then batch convert to new MP3's. Happy tagging!
