With the same source data (ie the same ripped wav fine) any lossless
format will* sound identical to any other. in my mind the only format
you can be sure of being truly lossless is FLAC because it is open
source and because slim device know exactly what is happening at any
point of playing a FLAC file. ALAC and WMALossless is being decoded by
a third party decoder, so unless these are also open source there is no
garantee they aren't doing something funny behind the scenes. Call me
paranoid but that the way i look at it :)

*there are reasons why this might not be 100% true.
1) the codec isn't actualy a true lossless codec
2) the encoder has a bug
3) the decoder has a bug
4) the decoder is adding some digital processing before passing the
data to slimserver
