Go to Server Settings in the web interface, select debugging and enable
the flag "d_scan".  At the top of the debugging page is a link to the
Slimserver log text (link that says something like "click here"), open
up that page in a new window.  Then start a new scan and watch the log
output.  You're looking for error messages showing that slimserver may
be getting into a loop. Things that can make this happen include
recursive links in the Music Library (i.e. links that refer back to
themselves) or out of date playlists which refer to files which don't
exist any more.  If you see error messages, correct those files (remove
links or playlists) and try a full rescan.

If that doesn't do the trick, post back.
