Sorry to hear you are still having problems - however Slimserver does work very well for most people. It is almost certainly something to do with your set up - can you tell us a bit more about how your Music Library is set up ?
What is the structure of the Music Library (Music Library / Artist / Album) ? What is the format of the files you are trying to play ? Is your Music Library contained on the same box as Slimserver is installed on, or on an external hard drive ? Are you using Itunes ? What are you putting in as values for "Music Library" in server settings ? Are there any symbolic links in your Library ? Have you tried moving one or two albums to a new folder and just recanning that - if that works, we'll know it is something to do with the way your Library is set up.
