There's a difference between what is _displayed_ and what is _used_ for most operations, such as searching and sorting. What is displayed is neither here nor there - SlimServer doesn't use the string for anything other than eye candy.
The Beatles Beatles THE BEATLES the beatles will all be recognized as the same artist, as most people would want. The string that gets stored for sorting and searching purposes is simply "BEATLES". All caps, and assuming you're using the default of removing leading common articles, with "The" removed. If you were to use all four of those variations on the artist name in your tags, it would be a crap shoot as to which will end up being the displayed string. I believe it's currently "last one in", meaning that the display string is whatever the artist tag is set to in the track that SlimServer happens to scan last. If you're seeing "smashing pumpkins" displayed, it's a pretty good bet (I'd say near 100% certain) that you've tagged at least one track with that exact string, including that particular capitalization. -- JJZolx Jim ------------------------------------------------------------------------ JJZolx's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=24093 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
