Interesting. Made in Canada too. ;-) It's kind of exciting but I can't think of a use for it. I do listen to music and watch movies on a surround setup.
However I'm scratching my head to try to think of what this does that I can't do already: - DVD playback - just use my DVD player! - music playback - just use the Squeezebox. Let the receiver handle surround. I currently use Dolby Pro-Logic IIx Music. I have no interest in "You've got mail!" computer sounds in Dolby Digital 5.1, so I can't see a use for this personally. I guess the only thing would be that music would be encoded in Dolby Digital using Dolby Digital Live, but I have serious doubts whether a C-Media chip and software would be any better than my Marantz 8400 at this, even though the Marantz decodes it using Dolby Pro-Logic II rather than Dolby Digital. Also with a sound driver setup like that I wonder if the unit has the same functionality as A Very Long Audio Cable (tm). Doesn't seem network-aware or network-controllable.
