Mike, as I mention above, I have exactly the same setup (6.3.0 - 7668 - Windows XP - EN - cp1252. Firmware 50. Windows XP) as you but no problems with my playlists, so I'm not sure that it is a 6.3.0. problem, but you could certainly try rolling back to see if 6.2.2. will fix it.
What happens if you enable d_scan and d_playlist and do a full rescan ? Does the Log Output give you any clue what the problem is (i.e. any error messages) ? How did you create these playlists ?
