The benchmarks on the synology page refer to the network performance. You wouldn´t need much performance but for the first time filling your Diskstation. The 101j uses a 266MHz Intel CPU and is the only one without any fan if i am right. I use a WD2500JB HD and doesn´t get this thing hot even cold when the HD goes to energy save mode. It just works flawless and really fast for browsing albums. There may be differences in the Slimserver webgui. I only use it from my sofa browsing the Album folder and i am totally satisfied with the speed. Rescanning and recreating my library with ~6000 taged files takes around 1 hour. So setting it up, doing changes may be faster on other solutions but just listening albums in the album library doesn´t need more horsepower.
