Sounds like you might have been better off picking up one of the music
servers like the cambridge (still buggy apparantly)640h or olive music
servers.  These both appear to do pretty much what you want.  Only
problem with them is that of the limited harddrive in the unit you
choose.  The olive apparantly can take a usb harddrive to increase
capacity!
