I have a tech background.........13 years in the making. I found the
Squeezebox to be technically challenging (especially when problems
occur) but then I LIKE the challenges. It is a learning process for
me........so it is no big deal.

Having said that.............I have had friends into my home that LOVE
the Squeezebox.........yet most of them are (how can I say it kindly)
technologically challenged. I couldn't imagine them taking a Squeezebox
out of the box and setting it up, let alone setting up ripping sofware.
I know who they would call...me!

Let's face it computers are complex machines. The Microsoft lie is that
computers are simple machines that anyone can use. Not true, and I think
it leaves non-geek people with a false sense of what they can do with
the computer.

I do think people can be TAUGHT to setup and use the Squeezebox if they
will take the time to learn. (but then that it the issue I fear)

Before I bought a Squeezebox I researched the matter carefully. I read
the forums. I downloaded SlimServer and played around with it. Then I
ordered. But, most people won't do this. Most people are Walmart
shoppers.......buy it off the shelf, plug it in, throw away the
instructions.

I am a 110% Squeezebox fan. It is not perfect but no piece of
technology is. I think the CEO and staff at Slim Devices work real hard
to make the Squeezebox a superior piece of technology. They take
seriuosly end-user problems (even when the problem is not slim devices
related) I have always found tech support to be accomodating and
helpful.
