if i coud expand on that last post... i think the way to do that is clear:
SS currently is extremely verbose, often confusing, and very powerful. as it currently exists, it is overwhelming, even for me, and i've used computers since 1981. i think the key is to start separating basic functions from advanced functions in the interface. the example for this already exists: SS 6.3 = advanced, SN the website = the very simple interface even a beginner could master. imo, SS should 6.x should be redesigned with this in mind. give the most basic easily understood options first, then allow users to switch or drill down to an advanced mode, if they so choose. ALSO, and this is very important, the "explanations" SS writes in to explain given advanced functions are damn confusing and often not helpful. i believe that the same kind of "master" they imported to redesign SB2's housing into the SB3 should be brought in for the "intuitive ergonomics" of the SS interface. thats whats missing... some elegance in its interface. (functionally and design wise, its pretty damn elegant) just mho. -mdw -- MrSinatra www.LION-Radio.org Using: Squeezebox2 w/SS 6.3 - Win XP Pro SP2 - 3.2ghz / 2gig ram ------------------------------------------------------------------------ MrSinatra's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2336 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=25168 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
