I'm catching up to this thread fairly late so apologies if its already been said, but I'd vote against flash merely because it won't run on my preferred platform. Granted us UN*X geeks are a miniscule fraction of the commercial audience but one reason I fell in love with the slimp3 was its openness and anything that drags it back to the PC only ghetto so many other devices inhabit is a retrograde step IMHO. Good industrial design/graphic desgin for the interface is not something that can only be done in flash (or any other single technology you care to name of course) and choosing to go some other more inclusive route will not preclude the creation of all sorts of great interfaces. In fact in my experience the need for a clear vision of what you're trying to achieve and an understanding of your tool yields much better results than a million flash monkeys fiddling with the tool(s) till they make something they think looks cool. (In fact give me one interface designed with good old human factors in mind and I'll pick it over most of the cutesy eye candy every time. But that's just me.)
