The other issue is one of perception. I've been a forum member for a
number of products which one might consider niche and a common issue is
potential customers coming along, reading a whole bunch of negative
posts like "why does this never work?" and "this thing is a piece of
junk" and obviously questioning the product. Now, in some cases this is
justified, and I'm certainly not trying to hide legitimate problems that
people have. But for example, I've been using Slimserver since before v5
and I've _never_ had a bad experience upgrading. I just make sure to
only use release versions and keep a copy of the old directory for a
couple of days to make sure I'm happy with it. So seeing a post like
"Wht are upgrades so painful?" just makes me want to pipe up with
"they're not always" - and I want to help the person in question out so
that others reading this thread don't get the impression that SD
products suck. Which they don't.
