I use the AMPSwitch plugin, with a relay attached to my Acoustic Energy Aego M speakers (which do hiss a little). Alternatively get a good quality amplifier that doesn't hiss. I used to use a Pioneer A400 amp and speakers that were silent. The only thing I could hear occasionally was a little pop now and again when my fridge kicked in downstairs!
