Couple of possible reasons this might happen: The file names of the tracks have unicode (i.e. accented) characters ? In my experience, Slimserver copes fine with unicode characters in the tags, but not in the file name itself. Renaming the file and a full rescan should fix the problem;
The file is a compilation (by more than one artist), but you do not have the express COMPILATION tag set to =1 ? This would be my bet.
