Maybe it's just me, but I would find it super-helpful if people who mention what OS they're using when discussing problems. I'm positive (after 3 weeks of intense forum reading) that many more issues exist with Slimserver running under Windows that under Linux and Mac OS.
I've been running it for 3 weeks in Mac OS and while there are definitely issues (which I've filed a couple of bugs for already), I haven't seen the disasterous performance some others are experiencing. For the longest time I was only doing software streaming from it, but the ability of the server to build and manage its DB and settings have been workable. I've now had a real SB3 streamning 24 hours per day since Thursday and performance remains what it has been. I've seen Slimserver quit itself a couple of times at the end of doing both an update rescan as well as full clear and scan. o far I've been through two builds of 6.5.1 (currently on 11-17 nightly). My process is to try and find out why something isn't working so I can give support or fuile a bug with as much information as possible, including exact steps to reproduce the issue. I think the same thing for the forum is expected, and the first stop is making sure to mention the OS being used. Unfortunately I can't say that the OS isn't responsible for some of the issues. I run both Windows and Mac OS systems in my business and at home, and I have a definite preference... ;) -- MelonMonkey Bruno *'Twisted Melon - Fine Mac OS Software' (http://twistedmelon.com) | 'mira - Personal Control for your Apple Remote' (http://twistedmelon.com)* ------------------------------------------------------------------------ MelonMonkey's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=8466 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=28416 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
