I have had SB3 since July - and started having this persistant
"connecting to slimserver..." or "waking up slimserver..." issue. The
device itself just seems to occasionally shut-down and go black - no
screen saver no power-save - just black.

I had originally thought this related to the 6.5.1 upgrade which I did
in the Oct timeframe at the prompt. It had worked fine until then. I
had so many problems with the upgraded server that I ended up rolling
back to 6.3 (fully documented in a couple other posts)

I had basically re-set everything on the server side back to original
and still had the problem....so I re-upgraded fresh to the nightly
build and for a few days all was well.....then it happened again.

I have a strong feeling that this issue lies within the firmware update
that happened in conjunction with the server-side upgrade since that
appears to be the only thing that changed....I'm not sure whats
involved in rolling this back or what the implications are so I have
not tried it. However the work-arounds mentioned in this post have
worked for me. I turned powersave plug-in off, set server to be static
IP rather than DHCP, and when I experience the problem, I do the
hold-the-power-key-down then left button trick to get it to cycle
through the networking and it has not failed so far (knocking on
wood)

I am using:

SlimServer Version: 6.5.1 - 10761 - Windows XP - EN - cp1252
Server IP address: 10.10.10.6
Player IP address: 10.10.10.7
Perl Version: 5.8.8 MSWin32-x86-multi-thread
MySQL Version: 5.0.22-community-nt

Player Firmware Version: 69

Thanks for the help in advance
