When I have the occasional weirdness that affects audio output, it's resolved by reprogramming Xilinx - press and hold "1" on the remote while unplugging and replugging in the power.
And when I say occasional, I mean once or twice in the 18 months I've had it. This is not a regular occurance and you should not expect it to be. If it does happen with any regularity, then yes, do consider returning it.
