I didn't check to see if slim.exe was running (I'm back on 6.5.0 now!)
but when I did a clean install of 6.5.1 I deleted the entire C:\Program
Files\Slimserver directory with all its contents so presumably the cache
is not the problem.

The slimserver icon was in the system tray. When I clicked it and
selected 'open slimserver' the IE window opened with the message
'connecting' - but it never ever actually connected.
