If you want a Sonos, then go for it. As far as having to have a computer on, isn't the Sonos a computer? If I understand it correctly, the Sonos connected to your router must be on to use it, or if you want any other Sonos players to work. This is not fundamentally different from a computer running SlimServer. The Sonos is probably easier to set-up, and it certainly has a better remote. The Squeezebox provides as good or better audio quality at a better price.
