Thanks for the suggestions. I'd already tried a wired connection (albeit through my router, though the same connection and cable worked last time I tried it with another PC). I hadn't tried restarting SS, but that doesn't work either. The SB3 almost always had to be "mummied" through startup (in that I had to press the power button to wake it up, then press it again when it went from "Waking SlimServer..." to "Connecting to SlimServer..."). So if it's the display that's gone, I won't know when to do the second button-press!
