My router has picked up two DNS server addresses from my ISP. I've
uninstalled Hamachi, rebooted the PC, rebooted the router, stopped the
firewall, and restarted Slimserver.

I also disabled IP6 because I've heard of that causing odd problems.

I ran Ethereal (packet logger). Slimserver sends out no DNS requests
when I start up and try AlienBBC; if I do a command line nslookup I can
watch it go through normally.

Slimserver *can* do DNS because when I connect to  Squeezenetwork, it
works, and Ethereal shows a successful DNS lookup to
service.us.squeezenetwork.com

Hmmm.
