Well, no, I disagree that this is inherently insecure. SS is password
protect-able, and the firewall pinhole required points only at the SS
and only at the port it uses. This is less secure than no pinholes at
all, but certainly more secure than having a machine in the DMZ.

I run this config today, and access my SS from a laptop remotely with
no issues.
