The remote is very basic and its function can't be changed any more than you could use your DVD player remote to control your preamp. It is not a universal or learning remote.
However, if your preamp has a "remote in" jack you could use a submini cable to connect the remote out of the Transporter to the remote in of the preamp, then configure the IRBlaster plugin to send volume up/down signals to the preamp when a volume up/down event happens on the Transporter. The Transporter will still try to respond to the volume up/down, but if you're using the digital volume out with volume fixed nothing will happen. If the preamp doesn't have a remote in, you'll have to buy an IR Blaster.
