I would like to use my old PPC Mac Mini as a media server. Ideally I would like to boot it with some sort of barebones Linux distro from an external firewire (or USB2) drive. That way the Mac OS X install on the main disk will remain untouched. I would like to run Slimserver, Firefly DAAP Server, a UPnP server, and some sort of video server for my DVD ISOs. My questions:
1) Can you boot linux from an external firewire drive without messing with OSX on a PPC Mac Mini? 2) If yes, could anyone recommend a good light distro? 3) Could anyone recommend some sort of server that will work for DVD ISOs?
