The ex- took a photography class at the local community college. The instructor refused to allow them to use digital cameras and insisted on film.
Why? "Because digital cameras are always changing -- in another year the camera you buy will be out of date." So, if you agree with that instructor, you should definitely not buy a SB3 since eventually it will be supplanted by something cooler at some point. Though you shouldn't buy that either, since it will be outmoded, too... Or you can just say what I do with consumer electronics: "Will this do what I need for the next day/week/month/year or multiples thereof?" If so, I buy it. If the SB does what you want, then go for it.
