I just realized that these files were created when the computer was first built and fired up. I've recently reinstalled slimserver (before discovering that the problems I was having were a result of the most recent version of my cable providers "FSecure" virus protection software). This reinstallation probably has a default setting to scan for music in "my music" that I had overidden on my previous installation. I'm not sure where to find it and disable it.
