Just to let anyone know the cause of the above problem. Reading elsewhere on this forum I came across Robert who had the exact same symptoms. Turned out you need to completely remove Zone Alarm firewall not just shut it down. It seems Slimserver service has an issue with the Truevector Zone alarm also installs.
