I've upgraded my Linksys WRT-54GS firmware and did not have to redo my
settings.

In the configuration page, there is an option to save your current
configuration to a disk file. Before updating, save your
configuration. This way if something goes wrong, you can easly read in
your old settings.

Good luck.
